Tone Tone Tone. Please Tone!
Not your arms or legs or butt; although that would be nice I guess. Tone your face, silly!
Why does your friendly neighborhood esthetician stress the importance of toning your face? Well, this post will explain it all.
Toner Facial Spray Facial Mist Astringent
These are all different labels you may see on skin care bottles. If you have any of these at home, a hand clap for YOU!
What is the point of a toner?
Your skin should have a ph of 4.5-5.5 ( which is soft and supple to the touch). Because of product application and washing and extracting and sweating and the sun and rain and kissing and eating and all the pollution everywhere, our ph is thrown off.
In a simple explanation, toner removes all that dirt from your face and brings your skin back to its balanced ph of 4.5-5.5. This is why facial mists and sprays encourage you to use them throughout the day for a refreshing pick-me-up. Facial sprays are great for on-the-go skin food!
During your skin care routine, a toner would be used after you cleanse and exfoliate. When you cleanse your face it strips down your natural oils and leaves your skin squeaky clean. If all you do is wash your face, your skin will constantly struggle to get itself back to its natural ph. It will overcompensate by producing extra oil which can clog your pores and cause breakouts. However! If you tone your skin, it will be happier and more likely to accept the next product in your skincare routine.
